Loud and Fast

This is a post of little import (aka the usual) but I felt like getting it off my chest.

It really bugs me when adjectives like fast and loud are the main focus/point of praise for a band or genre of music. (i.e. - "That show was awesome - they were so loud my fucking ears are bleeding!" or "Can you believe how fast that dude shreds!?  He's so much faster than insert Scandinavian name here")  I just don't get it.  Sure that takes skill I guess (unless you're just tweaking some tempo nob) but music is not an olympic event.  It's not about how hard it is to produce the sound, but how the sound connects.  Clearly loud and fast connects with a lot of people (me too, at times) but I'm just tired of it being the driving force behind so many bands.
