geeky idea
While driving over to my parents' tonight I had an idea: A "Hanukkah Server". Basically you link to a script that returns an image of a hanukkiah with the correct number of candles. I think I'd have to do it with CGI/Perl. At first I figured, just do the date calculation. Then I had a crazy idea to take the hostname, translate that to latitude/longitude (I'm sure there's a way to do that...), calculate sunset time, and then figure out the correct number of nights from there. I don't think I could do it for this year (I KNOW I can't), but it might be amusing for next year.
