I cannot begin to tell you how completely and breathtakingly beautiful this fic was. There was not a single wasted word. The images were beautiful and the emotion. I'm about to give you my highest compliment - it was unsympathetically sympathetic. There was no point in the story where you told me how to feel, you simply gave me the amazing story with all the beautiful details and let me have my own way with it. I found myself incredibly moved by the simplest lines and I think this is one of the most beautiful pieces of fiction I've ever read. Not FANfiction, fiction period.
Either way, since Shige seems to think the world of her, Massu supposes he might as well like her too. Lol. They’re so close Massu figures they ought to like the same girl. I love how they only have one fight in their childhood and it’s like they just figured it out. You fight, someone wins but really you both lose so why let it get to you?
And next to Shige's trembling form, he waits. Such childlike devotion. Alskeroiandr And it’s just so Massu, too. a casualty of war people whisper, gossip, cry, but to Massu there is nothing casual about it ASELROLSNEREOIERLKERLKNRLRIEEHET:NLTENLH. YES.
Massu has always known that Shige was meant for more. He just wonders when Shige would realize it himself. I love how Massu wants to be with Shige forever but knows that it’s just not possible because Shige is Shige.
Universities are in far-off cities like Tokyo and Osaka, where Massu hears people actually spend more on a meal than what his father makes in a month, where Shige's father once dreamed of going and then gave up for a rickety fishing boat and a soft-voiced wife and a son who grew up to read world encyclopedias. I just. *cries*
and Massu won't feel so left out. And this is why it was important. I’m glad Shige let him be. Their childhood. It was unglamorous and absolutely real. I felt everything they did and I really feel you put the reader in the seat of a god-like viewer. Just. Yes.
"I will," Massu says. He reaches up and they shake hands on it like men. I don’t know.
He's shocked, almost, at how easy it is to get on without Shige, to not think about him or how things normally are with him around, and then he begins missing Shige. And when he begins, there doesn't seem to be an end. If I just keysmash, do you know what I mean? This really made me start to cry.
And if that truly happens, Massu doesn't want to know it; he doesn't want to forget Shige. WHO WANTS TO FORGET SHIGE?! But seriously. I loved that Uchida was there for Massu to ruminate on and the foreshadowing? Yes.
It had been so hard to give up society's acceptance based on a tentative kiss in a shrubbery and a tight farewell hug. Oh. My. God. Yes. Massu crying over not the loss of a girl but the loss of living a “normal” life for one he barely even understood.
until they become addicted to it as teenagers are to anything pleasurable I just really loved this. :D It’s so true.
How he'd died in his sleep three days ago from a heart that had failed under too much hard work. OH MY GOD THIS SNUCK UP ON ME AND I JUST STARTED BAWWWWWWWWWWWWLING. FOR 15 MINUTES. It was just so matter of fact and Massu’s reaction. Just. *cries some more*
aejoianguhthiolRKL;Aasfjkaijrijashjgutklharakrm. That's just for good measure to account for my respective speechlessness. I love you.
You already know this, but ajsd;cklj EPIC COMMENT and I'm so happy that the fic touched you. Quotes ftw as usual :D And unsympathetically sympathetic is awesome, that was what we were aiming for but weren't sure we'd accomplished, so...
