NEWS FC members should have received an email on 7 May.
In preparation towards the final show of “STORY”, the final tour of the four-part project, the staff are planning a surprise for NEWS and are asking for fan contributions for the following:
- Video of fans singing “NEW STORY”
- Message for NEWS (either a handwritten message or audio recording)
*This project is meant to be a surprise for NEWS so please do not talk about it on social media.
*Please also note that this project is only open to FC members, as the submission page can only be accessed through logging into the NEWS FC account.
We decided to share the translation of the details here for fans who are more comfortable with reading them in English. It's great that the staff is putting together this surprise for NEWS, so let's do what we can to keep things quiet and help make this surprise a success.
1) “NEW STORY” video submission
- File size limit: Within 100MB
- Acceptable file formats: .mov/.mp4
- Please set your camera to the portrait mode (vertical)
- Each person can only make one submission
From about 01:05 - 01:40 of the song (the first chorus)
Lyrics:

Points to note:
- Please set your camera to the portrait mode (shoot vertically)
- Please listen to “NEW STORY” on your ear phones and sing along to the tempo
- Please record only your voice and make sure the audio from the CD doesn’t get recorded too
- While recording, please make sure that no famous characters/people are included in the frame, including your background, clothes etc.
- Please do not record anyone other than yourself without prior permission
- If you can’t shoot and play the audio on the same device, please use separate devices to listen to the song and record
- Please send the raw video and audio - do not edit/add effects to it
- The file size is limited to 100MB and acceptable formats are .mov/.mp4
- There may be browser limits to the files that can be uploaded
2) Message for NEWS
Please send messages that you want to convey to NEWS now.
*Please send in handwritten messages (image) or audio recordings.
*Each person is only allowed one image and one audio submission each.
Instructions for the submission of handwritten messages
- Use white paper, place it horizontally, write your message to NEWS, and take a photo of just the paper for your submission
- Please take the photo in the landscape mode (shoot horizontally)
- Please make sure the photo consists only the message and nothing else (be it objects or yourself)
- File size limit: Within 5MB
- Acceptable file formats: .jpg/.heic
- Point to note: Do not use your photo, nor photos of the members (including magazine clippings etc.). Please also do not use images of famous people/characters, nor illustrations.
- Please record what you want to tell NEWS using the voice memo app on smart phones (or other similar applications)
- Length: Within 5 seconds
- File size limit: Within 5MB
- Acceptable file formats: .mp4/.mp3/.wav/.aac
- Points to note:
- Please try to record in a loud and clear voice as far as possible
- Please record in a quiet environment, so only your voice can be heard + recorded
- Please do not edit the audio; send the raw file
For those who can participate, do remember that the submission deadline is next Thursday, 13 May 23:59 JST.
