On July 6th, it was announced on “Hirunandesu” that Massu will be one of the main personalities for this year’s “
24 Hour TV” alongside Inohara Yoshihiko (V6), Kitayama Hiromitsu (Kis-My-Ft2), Shigeoka Daiki (Johnny’s WEST), and Kishi Yuta (King & Prince), with Inocchi as the Captain and Massu as the Vice Captain of the team.
“24 Hour TV” will be broadcast on August 22nd ~ 23rd this year and the theme will be “to move”/”take action” (ugoku). Rather than this being the “43rd” 24 Hour TV, it’ll be the “first one of our new way of life” in this age where we can no longer do so many of the things that we’re used to doing.
This year’s event will be different from previous years’ as there will be no in person donation collection at the venue while the event is in place, nor the famous marathon that goes through public streets. New methods of holding the event are currently under consideration.
The producer for the programme made the offers to the five of them at the end of last year, thinking that 2020's 24 Hour TV would take place after the Olympics and while the Paralympics were still being held. They thought these were the people who could convey what’s real sincerely, and they picked five members from different groups as they thought it’d be nice if the special members could overcome the limitations of groups. These are also the members he feels conveys the idea, at first glance, of people who “are loved”, and people who will be able to convey themselves in ways befitting their respective ages. While the Olympics/Paralympics games got postponed due to COVID-19, and the producer wasn’t sure what to do initially, they were glad they went for these 5 people, because they could be assured that the five of them would convey sincere messages befitting their age, and also because they are people with auras that can bring smiles to everyone. They feel the five of them would be able to convey messages to the audience in their various ways.
Massu’s comments:
I will figure out what I can do with everyone, and will also look for ways I can take action to cheer people up. During the stay home period, I kept thinking about what I can do. This time, it would be great if this could become a programme that can send some courage to people, or become an opportunity for people to take action too.
