Shigeaki no Cloud (Feb 1)
Shige said it’s now February, the season of entrance exams and told those who’re taking them to take care of their health and do their best so they won’t have regrets.
He also wrote about the essay collection for “Dekirukoro nara Steed de”, saying it’s a piece of work that’s filled with “Kato Shigeaki” (as a person) to the brim, and recommended this book to a few groups of people, including, of course, those who are interested in Kato Shigeaki.
At the same time, he’s also working on “Alternate” and “STORY” (both tour and album). He’s making so many things at the same time, January passed by in the blink of an eye. But he’ll focus and deal with them one at a time.
His last paragraph was directed at Massu, playing with and including the titles of Massu’s recently announced works (Gochi and Rental Nan mo Shinai Hito), saying he hopes the members would read the essay collection too, but will “that” person read it? Kchan NEWS (Jan 7)
This week all three of the other NEWS members came on as guests.
They all introduced themselves and goofed around a bit before talking a bit about the S tour.
♪ LPS ♪
Koyama explained that they asked fans to write in with what they want NEWS to do, and so they decided to play the ishin denshin game, where given a theme they all have to say something at the same time and they try to all say the same thing. Koyama picked the theme: New Years which caused the other three to start complaining, but they tried it and all came up with different answers:
M: Happy New Year
K: Otoshidama (Money given as gift on New Years)
S: Kadomatsu (New years decoration)
T: Mochi
They tried again with types of onigiri and failed again. They tried then with an ingredient that you can’t not have in Miso soup (based on Tegoshi’s preferences) and they all got it right with “tofu”. They then tried again with type of set meal, and they all got it almost with “shogayaki” but Shige messed it up by specifying “pork shogayaki”. They then tried zoo animals.
T: Lion

They told Koyama to come up with another theme since his suggestion of New Years was so badly received and he said “favorite color” and they complained that it’s not a theme if they all just say their own favorite colors, whose favorite colors? So Shige came up with European countries.

Shige got part way through his word before cracking up and stopping the game, they restarted agreeing that they’ll start with New Year’s, but then the words just have to relate to the one before it not stay in the New Year’s theme.

Koyama and Shige stopped the game saying Massu’s answer wasn’t valid, and so he tried again.

At the end they tried to play a different version of the first game, but instead of all saying the same thing they had to each say different things. The first theme was prefectures on the Japanese island of Shikoku because there’s 4 of them so they each can pick one.

S: Kouchi
T: Ehime

Tegoshi complained that he purposely didn’t pick Kagawa, because when Tegomass went there on tour Massu ate so much udon so he thought Massu would pick that one for sure.
Next they decided to try with Kyushuu because there are 7 prefectures they can pick from.

They then tried again with NEWS singles from the first disc of Encore. Koyama specified that they can’t pick any of the warp songs, and the others teased him because that was obvious that they wouldn’t pick those. The listener likes listening to songs that match their destination while driving. Like if they’re going to the beach, they’ll listen to songs that suit it. They’d like to know if the three of them do similar things.
M: Nope.
T: Seriously? That ended the conversation. Pien!*
(TL note: Tegoshi is using a recent phrase he learnt from the Dec 24’s episode of Kchan NEWS)
Tegoshi went a bit off tangent, by first just naming what songs he listens to while driving (e.g. songs they’re recording soon), until Massu pointed out the listener isn’t just asking for songs they listen to while driving. Tegoshi then named some songs he listens to during winter.
Sakura doesn’t own a license and if she listens to anything on a car it’d be when she’s on her father’s car. If he lets her choose the songs, it’d be from the animes she likes etc.
Massu said he doesn’t change his songs according to the season etc. at all. He’s usually listening to hiphop or songs he needs for work on the car, regardless of season or destination. Tegoshi said he’s the only one who gave a “right” answer to the question
The listener writes things they cannot forget on the back of their hand to help them remember, but they end up forgetting that they wrote it on the back of their hand. Do they have any tips for remembering things they can’t afford to forget?
Tegoshi said he writes them down into his calendar (without setting alarms), Massu and Sakura does the same too. Tegomass even writes what they need to buy into their calendar.
Sakura: Oh, not something like the “To-do list”?
M: “To-do”?
Sakura: There are to-do lists, aren’t there?
T: There are.
M: I don’t get it.
Sakura: No way… there’s the option to write things you have to do in point form.
M: Ah not that, I just “do”. I just put them into my calendar.
Massu started picking on the example of item to buy that Sakura brought up, and Tegoshi joined in. Tegoshi said his mother writes them on the whiteboard on the fridge, and Massu started saying how putting too many things on the fridge affects luck.
T: That’s okay, we have super good luck even then.
M: Hmphf~

The next listener said they bought the novel that “Pareto no Gosan” was going to be based on, and can’t wait to watch Massu play Onodera. They wanted to know if Tegomass check out the originals of drama/film remakes before watching the drama/film versions. (T: You don’t right, since you don’t read books.) Massu said this became the second book he read in his entire life and it was good. He read it to know more about the work, but otherwise he wouldn’t. Sakura would read the original before watching the remake, and Tegoshi said there’ve been times when he watches remakes of books he’s read, and also read books of dramas/films he’s watched. Massu said again that this book was interesting and asked everyone to watch the drama
On the sense of touch they don’t like (e.g. fingernails scratching blackboards, pencil on paper, onions inside potato salads etc.). Tegomass didn’t understand how anyone could dislike pencils on paper, and Sakura shared that she can’t eat apples because she can’t stand the crunchiness. Massu said there are moments when he doesn’t feel like eating pickled plums (like when he bites into them inside onigiris when he’s not ready for them), but they said he wasn’t answering the question. Tegoshi said he doesn’t like sudden loud sounds, but that probably applies to everyone so he doesn’t think he has anything in particular
For Tegomass no Debate, the first question was, which would they choose out of the following from the menu?
A: Seasonal dish
B: Chef’s choice
As usual, they tried to create situations where they didn’t have to pick one out of the two, before finally choosing - both chose A. Massu said there’re like “Chef’s Salad”s, aren’t there? He’s never ordered them as he’d have to first ask what’s inside, and it’s different from if he asked the chef to make one. Tegoshi then explained his choice - season limited items are as their names suggest, limited to the season, but the chef’s menu can be made anytime
Second debate: which sound do they not like?
A: The sound of a mosquito flying at your ear
B: The sound of a huge balloon bursting (T: WAHHHHH this is so hard. M: It’s the blackboard for me, the blackboard!)
They both chose the same answer, A. Tegoshi explained his choice first, saying hearing the mosquito means he’d definitely be bitten somewhere and that affects his following day too. Massu said he dislikes both as around the same level, but for the mosquito, there’s harm on another level, like if he was at home, there’d be that “Ah there’s a mosquito at home!”
They then talked a little about how each time there’re balloons for shoots someone would burst the balloon(s)

The third listener turned 20 this year and was going to have a gathering with their middle school classmates after the Coming of Age Ceremony. What should they wear to the gathering? He said it’s hard to decide if they should go for something that evokes reactions of how different they look how, or that they haven’t changed at all, but it’s probably best to go in what they like best, and something that’s easy to move around in
The fourth listener asked if Massu can say all of the multiplication table and if he had a favourite (M: So do they think I can’t!?) He said he memorised it through the song and proceeded to sing a part of it, which was really cute until he messed up and laughed (M: I CAN SAY IT, obviously). And while he can say all of them, there’re a few that he needs a few seconds to process, like he know what 7x8 is immediately, but 8x7 will take him a while
