You have my respect for actually answering questions personally, sir. You also have my respect for shutting down some blogs that were devoted to something truly horrific.
Having said that, the fandoms are understandably riled up, and they make up a significant part of LJ's userbase. I'd say that if the fandoms decide to migrate en masse to other sites, that LJ will be advertising to a much smaller house.
What upset many of us is that the way you went about it made it appear that it was more about caving in to fear about losing advertising revenue than about unethical or illegal conduct. I, for one, hope this is not the case. Good riddance to the pedophiles, but if you alienate the fandoms you'll suck the life right out of LiveJournal. Many of us are also concerned about exactly what your vision for LiveJournal is. The message you sent was very mixed, unfortunately. While I'm all for removing communities and blogs that are genuinely harmful to children, LiveJournal is not and probably never will be an Internet Utopia, and many of us like it that way.
Your post is appreciated, if rather late. Thanks for finally bringing it up with your userbase.
