Invite codes are gone

Love 'em or hate 'em, invite codes are now gone. [post1, post2We really just want to make everybody happy, and that's really hard. If we say we want to turn right, half the community asks, "why not left?". We can explain forever, but it's difficult following our long posts and replies in threads of 1000+ comments. Guess you guys know what you are doing :) I have grown quite addicted to LJ - few are my friends that don't have one! Actually I have 4, plus 2 communites. It will be quite good telling friends that they can just go sign up.

Great site, great work on it.

on the whole i think this is a pretty good thing, and i also commend the great site and the great work on it.

with all of the new users though, won't it be harder to make a username for yourself?

I am quite scared myself with these news, but I'm glad they happened.

Now I can preach on my college friends to go to LJ. :o)

I think it's about time. I had an account a LONG time ago, forgot the log in name (still wish I could remember) and then when I tried to make another account I couldn't get a darn code. So like a year later, I finally got one thanks to my friend Lindsay. I'm glad, yep, glad.

I did the same exact thing and to this day I can't tell you what the password is and the email account everything for it went to is not longer in existance since I no longer have AOHELL.... Glad I'm not the only one who did that. LOL!

I have to say this: Your lj_backend posts make delightful reading. I've got confidence in the system, and I can't help but feel good about your team.

Well done and good luck.

I enjoy writing them.

I used to just write them in news, until I realized most people didn't care. I think it's good to have news targetted at different audiences.

I agree, I always love to see how large computer projects (whatever the nature) are run and what they run into etc. For me, lj_backend is great!

Yeah. That just goes to show how long the invite codes have been around for - to the majority of the users here, that's probably the only version they know.
