Changes in The LiveJournal Shop

We have an important announcement for you.

Starting from March 25, all LiveJournal payments will be conducted in Russian rubles. For user’s convenience, the approximate US Dollar equivalent will be shown in the LiveJournal shop interface and in the shopping cart.

Don't worry, you can still pay by any bank card from any country.

Why can't you keep things in USD to make life easier for international users or the option to pay in USD instead of Russian rubles like some websites do which would be easier

Apparently it's actually got quite a big Russian userbase now (it was bought over by a Russian company iirc who started making a ton of small changes) so I can KIND OF understand why they're doing it, still kind of a hassle though.

I don't mind that much because as a Canadian, Paypal always shows me the conversion from USD but it is def annoying :')

Yeah I know what you mean, I'm in the UK so I already had to do conversion pretty often haha, it actually seems like they've reduced the prices of paid accounts though from what they've said? Which is pretty cool as long as we don't get charged a random conversion fee or something.

Ah no that sucks D: Luckily my paid account doesn't run out until next year sometime and I do have a credit card but a lot of people don't, and rely on paypal since it's easy and secure :/ That seems like a stupid move.

I'm pissed they didn't announce till the day of the change. Had they given us a few days' advance notice, those who wanted to could pay for 2 or 3 years to avoid the fuss till things get smoothed out. Bah, humbug!

oh god that sucks. I don't have a credit card. I looked at the WebMoney site and I don't feel comfortable using it. Especially in this covid19 climate scams and frauds have gone up 5000%!!! i have a permanent account, so i'll always have paid features, but all of my extra icons will expire in November. And I won't be able to buy things on lj for friends (extra icons, vgifts, paid time) so that's kind of sad.

It's just as well, because I've thrown a lot of money at this site since 2008 - way too much.

I like your userhead :) Mine was one of the last things I bought on here :')
