I don't think it's such a bad idea, but it would have been nicer without the free paid account. I have a lot of friends I'd love to invite back, but I don't want them to think I'm only doing it to get free shit.

(I couldn't care less about the paid account -- I don't even know what the benefits are.)

There's an older feature that lets you "nudge" a friend to come back and post -- no freebies involved. http://www.livejournal.com/friends/nudge.bml
