I am ok with the LJtxt feature being removed.. but it wouldve been nice to know about it earlier so I didnt spend so much time two weeks ago wondering why it kept giving me an error... So thanks for the notice there. :(

I will say I will kinda miss it. Although I seldom used it, I liked that I could use my unlimited texting feature on my phone plan to send something to my journal if something happened and I couldnt get to a computer. You should take note that not everyone has a smartphone, internet on their phone, or a data plan to send emails.

Most mobile services let you send text messages to an e-mail address, which to LJ would look like a regular e-mail.

My phone can not send email, but can send text messages. All I can type in the text message "to" box is numbers.

Yeah, I've realized that I've only ever owned Nokia phones so the behavior of sending an SMS to an e-mail address is probably different from phone to phone as well as company to company.

Yes, all of this! My phone plan is simple and I made use of texting to LJ.

If your phone does MMS, which pretty much every phone these days does, you can still post by text!

1) Set up your phone's texting email address as an approved sender here: http://www.livejournal.com/manage/emailpost.bml (You might have to contact your phone company if you don't what that is - or do what I did and send a text to your email address, haha)
2) Once you've set up your pin, add "username+pin@post.livejournalcom" as a contact in your phone
3) ????
4) POST BY EMAIL TEXT MESSAGE

I've been doing this for years because TXTLJ never worked right for me.

You can, however, quite a few calling plans charge for MMS while they include SMS as free ...

Depends on your phone plan. Mine have always been the same for MMS and SMS, but not everyone's is necessarily.

A lot of plans over here (UK) include "unlimited" or "$hugenumber" texts as a bonus add-on, but gouge on the MMS - especially on the cheaper plans (which are usually what those of us without smartphones are on).
