surely, the Pingbacks were meant.

they are much simpler to use (that is user wise). also, Trackback is sort of outdated and almost unsupported mechanism.

While no final implementation decision has been made, it is extremely likely that we would be implementing pingbacks as opposed to trackbacks.

Any ETA as to a final implementation? Rough estimate?

I think that's a reasonable compromise for Basic Accounts.

I'm not quite so happy about "increase the revenue gained from ... paid subscription accounts", though. Raise the price, don't put on ads or anything dumb like that.

A reasonable compromise from "there will never be ads on LJ?"

Compromise means both parties gain, not one party loses less than they could if the other ones wanted to be total jerks about it.

Yeah for REALS. I hate this crap. I use basic because I refused to pay after Strikethrough. I miss some of the features a LOT, but it's a journal site, I'm here to journal. I don't use plus because I don't want to see advertisements BECAUSE I remember the whole "there will never be ads on LJ" stuff, and THAT makes me mad. And and and GAH.

I'm still bitter that userinfo is now profile, honestly.

I remember that post too. Do you happen to have a handy link to it? Does the post still exist?

I think I may have started something I might regret.

Edit: I guess I should say something halfway-sensible. You've reminded me to renew. Still worth aupporting the LJ project even if I don't use many of the paid features.

Edit 2: Irony noted that I've just used a paid feature. Shit.
