at least it wasn't "first!"

* * *

Since i'm here, I might as well say the following (the comment page is swamped - it took me five reloads to be able to even read anything):

LJ, 6A was the worst thing that's ever happened to you. You haven't been the same since. It's like you're sick, and you're not going to get better. Since I rely on you to some extent, you are part of me, and your illness is mine.

I must say goodbye, LJ - I must preserve myself and not allow this illness to affect me.

I hereby suggest that someone (or group) with the resources, knowhow, and dedication create a new LJ - one that takes us back to 2003, when things were simple(?), pure(?), and (mostly) reliable. The masses are yearning for the return of our most beloved features (impartiality, self-government, minimal authoritative interference, a sense of security and stability).

Until then, my darlings, my personal blog must be in the hands of someone i trust (for now that means me). That someone is *not* you, LJ - it hasn't been for some time.

I guess that part of what's necessary is that the people I want to read are all there as well. None of these services have quite reached the consumer awareness level that LJ has. That's why old LJ was so unique; They didn't really advertise (so far as i know), but somehow EVERYONE knew about them.

I'll probably be shopping anyway, though, so thanks for the suggestions.

Oh, I agree. The LJ site is a step up, technically, from any of the other competitors that I've seen (often many steps up, in fact). And my friends are on LJ, only sporadically on other sites. I've been here since 2002 and leaving is hard. I've been increasingly unsatisfied with 6A, and I'll give SUP a chance, but if they mess up as well, I'm not stuck here.

SUP is a local Russian company that supports Russian part of LJ. It was found a year ago by a few Russian oligarchs. I heard that they are connected with Kreml' :-). It will be interesting to see how TOS will change, but I suppose that will nothing cnanges for American users.

Actually they are not Russians, rather Russian Jews.

"Russian Jews" aren't Russian...?

Hm. American Jews are Americans, French Jews are French, Israeli Jews are Israelis, even Chinese Jews are Chinese...

What are Russian Jews, then...?

Anton Nosik, for example has both Russian and Israeli passports. So who is he? :)

A Russian and an Israeli, perhaps? Or a Russian Israeli, even?
