This week in the U.S. we celebrated Independence Day on July 4th, with a day off and lots of fireworks. Did anyone eat too much BBQ? And, yesterday was my second LJ-versary! Do you know when your LJ-versary is?

It's a testament to all this Harry Potter mayhem that I keep reading that as Snape :/

Okay, second :p

And a proper response: Thank you for all your work, and happy (belated) July 4th to the US. I wish we had more holidays in the UK

Most of my US based friends have about 10 days paid holiday and about 8 public holidays, which they don't normally get paid for.

I've never had less than 20 paid days and the 8 public holidays, which we do get paid for. Be careful for what you wish for, it may come true, and I much prefer double the time off with pay--we have different holidays but we have them.

Wow, they don't get paid for it?! Okay, I take back my wish!!! I currently get 20 days paid holiday, plus paid bank holidays. I'm happier with our holidays now! ^_^
