Oo, I've always wanted to do this meme! About to head home from work, but here we go! Yoinked from artaxastra, penknife and others:

Give me a story I've done, and a timestamp anything from a few minutes after/before to years after/before, and I'll write a quick ficlet related to it.

Master post is here, drabbles are here. I will respond as soon as I can! <3/♠/&c

drabble request, Προμηθεύς, easy with daemons in, we few we happy few, meme, dark angel, big dorky exclamation pointy zen master, writing

He stopped in his tracks, the only sound Clem snuffling through the snow.

"Where are they?"

"Doc, that you?"

A sharp black nose exploded up from a pile of snow; a masked face peered out from under a buried tarp. "It's them!" Hoobler's raccoon exclaimed, and scuttled up out of the foxhole, standing on her hind legs. Clem trotted over, and Hoobler's daemon -- Merle, was that her name? -- stood aside so she could slip down into the foxhole. Gene nodded and followed, and Hoobler's daemon brought up the rear.

It was some foxhole, with four other men cooped up inside. Hoobler's raccoon crawled up into his lap; Perconte brushed his teeth while his magpie clutched his shoulder; Malarkey brought his knees in closer as his otter lifted her head, whiskers twitching; Shifty nodded, while his pointer thumped her tail once at Clem. "Some party you got in here," Gene said, crouching down.

"I'll say," said Hoobler happily. "We were just talkin' old picture shows. You remember that one where Roy Rogers jumps Trigger over the canyon with a whole tribe of Apaches on his tail?"

"Hoobs, you must be the only guy in the world who saw that one," sighed Malarkey, shaking his head.

"Gene, you had dinner yet?" Perconte held out a tin of Spam.

"I'm fine, I'm fine." He glanced around the foxhole. "How're you all doing?"

They assured him they were fine, and everyone's feet were fine. He and Clem stayed only long enough to shake the topmost chill off.

"Who's next?" he asked her, once they were alone with the snowy night again.

"Toye and McClung," she said, lifting her nose. "Little hot food too, but it ain't ours."

"Amazed you can still smell anything," he mumbled as they tramped forward.

"I'm something, aren't I."

Gene's mouth twitched, and Clem just close enough.
