In eight hours I have to leave, in order to travel eight hours to get back to Chicago. First a flight to Dulles, with an hour layover if I'm lucky and the plane isn't delayed, then getting from O'Hare back home on the CTA... that's going to be awesome. Still, the trip has been utterly, utterly worth it. Vacations that are actually vacations are awesome. (Next weekend will also be spent shuffling through airports, but that will be back to Ohio, so I'm way more familiar with that trip.) (Also awesome, except not so much. Sigh.)
So, Joe Biden! The more I think about it, the more I'm pleased. Seriously! I just hope the Democrats can sell the right message (the narrative, briefly), and don't get derailed by the usual suspects. Also, when the day comes that I never have to hear the words "flip-flopper," "swift-boat" and "Rovian" ever again, I'll be glad. Dear national vocabulary: please shift. Thanks a bunch!
Still, it's always reassuring to know that as a nation, our priorities are still totally in place. Chris Kattan, babies and unfortunate deaths are so much more important than, oh, presidential races.

Oh, hilarity! I love it when civilization is in its last throes. Or, well, I love it when an article starts off, "Before execrating Death Race as a cultural abomination with no redeeming value..."
In a complete 180, have an article (spoiler-free) about Eric Kripke from his hometown paper about his Toledo roots. I hadn't realized that he had a kidlet! It pleases me that Kripke has reproduced. Also:“Very few writers out here get a chance to make a show, and when they do there tends to be a bias towards Los Angeles or New York or at least the coasts,” he said. “It was really important to me to say I really want a Midwestern sensibility.”
