GUYS!
I just saw Ringo Starr!
It's his birthday today (68, holy cow!), and he was doing this appearance thing at the Hard Rock Hotel, which is just across the river from where I work (and also happens to be in my favorite building in the Chicago skyline, the Carbide & Carbon Building), and so a friend and I went over on an early lunch break thing and waited in the drizzle and then there he was! Guys, he's so spry and lively and adorable! RINGOOOOO! The purpose was to have everyone flashing peace signs for peace and love and stuff, and then -- AND THEN he was going to be serving free cake to everyone after! We had to get going by that point, but still. RINGO!
The problem was, seeing as he's kinda tiny, you could only ever catch flashes of him. "I think I caught the top of his head!" "If the camera moves, there's his sunglasses!" "THE NOSE! How could you miss the nose?" But seriously, he was totally -- I don't know. He was really seriously adorable and engaging and he just seemed really happy. He shouted and talked a little bit too! He's just like in the reels.
