This moment to arise; or: Future Esther depends on you

Getting rid of things: JUST THE BEST. This not only includes the old year, last of its name, but a bunch of junk I had cluttering my apartment and my life in general: old t-shirts I was never going to wear again and chintzy Judaica I was never going to use and small notebooks that I needed to let go of, not to mention just... pieces of paper and old makeup and almost-empty jars and who knows what else. It was just living in piles along my baseboards, and I've about halved it; the rest is stuff I need to actually organize -- or further get rid of. It is a very, very good feeling.

Also excellent: NYE with
theladyscribe! We dressed up, we got enchiladas and plantains and flan, we promptly went straight home, changed into PJs and talked until shortly before midnight, which we almost missed because we were watching D2: The Mighty Ducks (what even is that film!). I have to switch over to my new Moleskine day planner (I swear, every time someone tries to talk to me about bullet journals, my brain turns into a cartoon scribble and falls apart); I have some new habits I want to institute, like 1,000 words of fiction per day (roughest of rough drafts!) and truly daily morning pages. I'm also really interested in #52essays2017 for
screwballheroine. (Hey new people coming over from LJ! This is one of my favorite features of Dreamwidth, being able to code in different user profiles; see the full list here, it's pretty nifty! I'm also thrilled to see the admins both welcoming the apparently 100,000 new users from the past two weeks and clarifying exactly where they stand on privacy. I like this place, you guys should come on in! <3)

That was a bunch of various things all at once. Yuletide reveals! I'm vaguely hangdog about my Yuletide this year -- I simply ran out of time to make it as good as it was in my head, and I was seriously burned out before stories went live and couldn't fix what I'd uploaded, though I fully intended to. I'm really intrigued by the ideas in it, though, as was my recipient, who was super, super gracious. So, for the Neko Case song "Prison Girls," have a title I'm really pleased with: "Beekeeping for City Girls Without Roofs." It's about a woman in a Very Timely semi-apocalyptic America with certain chain preferences on roadside hotels, and the radio dreams she has of other women trapped out there.

Anyway, side link: the Science of Willpower. I'm trying to exercise it a bit right now regarding
ParlorTattooPrints. The two frontrunners at the moment are Aviator Flapper and Wind in My Sail, though I also really enjoy the 1920s lovers, the melancholic flapper, the flapper with swallows, the flapper with crow daemon and the nurse flapper. I still need to write out the end-of-year meme (here's 2015), but like. For now... more stuff. More becoming. More readiness. Glad to be here with you, friends. ♥
