Do you ever make recipes that surprise you in, well, ways that surprise you? So I put together this
cauliflower, bean and feta salad last night (no grocery in my neighborhood had endives, but I went a little heavier on the parsley, taboule-style, and it worked out fine), and - not only was it very tasty, but I think I'm still full this morning. Like, staggeringly full? Would definitely make again, especially because now I have all this parsley/rosemary/chives that I'd rather use quickly
than freeze.
I'm starting to feel more on top of planning for my birthday -- yesterday I bought matinee tickets to Hadestown with
e_clare, which I'm stupid excited about on both fronts. (Two for two on birthdays in New York together, also!) I finally have a title for one of the two fics I'm writing, and pitching articles seems a lot less intimidating today, which is nice. I'm going cartoon-red again on Wednesday, always exciting. I think I'm narrowing down a list of "These are the things I'm going to treat myself to for my birthday" (desk easel, for ease of carrying and space;
an amazing bathing suit; maybe
this print, maybe some
Prismacolor markers, by which I mean two or three MAX, possibly just one - those suckers are expensive, and I'd want to not actually waste them, you know? Side note: I will keep dreaming about
this and
these).
I've watched the first two episodes of UnREAL - has anyone else seen it? It's pretty amazing, actually, in that "Oh my god, what horrible, horrible people, only some of whom are breaking down because of it" way. TNR calls it "
the drama of meaningless work," and yeah, I buy it as a show about toxic workplaces. Hulu finally has S3 of Brooklyn-99 available from the beginning, and I finally caught up on the end of S2 last night - it's lost a little something by this point, but there are still so many laugh rule moments.
Morning fic rec:
daddy, watch your little black sheep run by
paperclipbitch, about Tony Stark, Hope Van Dyne and the kids of famous industrialists who get thrown together at parties over the years.
Right, okay. I've got pitches to pitch and
a comic to plan. G'morning, hello, and happy Monday to all!
