I discovered today, as I spent a good chunk of the X-Files pilot slathering them with Wonder Balsam, that I own seven pairs of Doc Martens, including the
completely amazing pair I bought yesterday. (Seriously; spotted it online, realized they were the most
actually vintage-looking Docs I might ever see, which means looking neat + walkable forever, went to go meet
oliviacirce in Union Square for a movie, couldn't not buy once I tried them on.) Basically, it's not... too many, but I need more socks, is what I'm saying. (I bought a bunch of nerdy socks at the Strand after the movie, so I'm happy on that front, but they are definitely show socks, not boot socks, and I... have worn holes in all my SmartWool socks, because they get worn every single day when it's not summer out.) (I am also not allowed to
get these, even if they are on sale.)
Anyway -- we saw Ricki and the Flash, which is actually my first Diablo Cody movie, and it was interesting and messy and Meryl was playing a character unlike any I'd ever seen her do and her daughter Mamie Gummer is outlandishly good and the whole thing could have been a total disaster (it wasn't, but!), except known goober Sebastian Stan legitimately spends about ten minutes just open-mouthed grinning at people and DANCING LIKE A GOOBER, and it's great. He's such an actual cupcake. There was no acting involved in that. (Also, Audra McDonald is so flawless and Kevin Kline should really do more stoner comedies.)
I have so many tabs open, and I've been wanting to share them, so -- an old-school link-mongering post:
10 GOP presidential candidates as sandwiches -- no, this is amazing.
I really need to listen to To Pimp a Butterfly anyway, but Kendrick Lamar just seems like a really cool guy.
Budget and money-saving apps for the hopeless, like me!
historicalagentcarter is asking for fanwork recs that are particularly rooted in history, particularly as relevant to the MCU and Agent Carter and the SHIELD Founders Fandom.
Today I realized I had never seen the X-Files pilot, partly because of this list of recommended MOtW viewing episodes for people unfamiliar with the series. I used to watch The X-Files when it was on TV, but I didn't really follow it closely or remember much. (The soundtracks to the first movie and to the TV series itself remain great, though!)
I've been thinking about
liv's post about Dreamwidth's grind into stasis since it was posted in June. I really don't need a lot from this website, but I do need a journaling community to survive (not for me to survive, though I do consider community/personal journaling deeply important to me on several levels), and I want this website to succeed.
Segueing into Sebastian Stan, I'm so mad BuzzFeed got there first, and yet I can't be mad, because this interview is darling.

That... did not pare down my tabs as much I thought it would.
