My dad told me my MCU marathon inspired him to watch The Avengers when it was on TV last night. I refrained from explaining
my take on it and just waited for his review to come in. I was not disappointed:The over-reliance on special effects was mitigated by the depth of characterization. Of course, all the characters have back stories from the original comics and independent films ("Capt America," "Thor," "The Hulk" &c.) and that means background is already in place. True also of the Harry Potter films. I esp. liked Loki and Iron Man in the film.
It strikes me that the same premise of unruly individuals deemed dangerous to The Established Powers is found in "Reds" and "Reds 2"--Retired, Extremely Dangerous as the acronym goes...
Scarlett Johansson hosts SNL tonight.

Meanwhile, I have no hot water in my apartment, it's gorgeous outside and I'm stuck working today.
