Still singing that months of the year tune you learned as a little kid

Dec 06, 2014 09:43

Hey, it's actually time for one of my favorite memes of the year! I would be lying if I didn't say that I try to make the first line of the first entry of every month extra witty or interesting because I always love collecting them. (Heh, this year you can totally see where I stopped trying so hard.) And sort of along the lines of "How you spend New Year's Eve is how your year will go," this actually seems like a fairly accurate summation of 2014:January: One option for this morning was spooning on a couch with an Air Force guy, but instead I woke up with my face next to a pile of socks, wearing a t-shirt my mom gave me: Careful, or you'll end up in my novel.

February: Literally every cousin on my mom's side of the family found their spouses through JDate, a website I refuse to join at the moment.

March: Ever have an anxiety dream that starts off with a perfectly innocent elevator ride, progresses to an interrogation by an FBI agent and ends with the revelation that your mother has been a spy all along and everything is getting pinned on you?

April: My original plan was to point out the cruelty inherent in Chicago turning off the heat lamps on the CTA's train platforms, since the weather after April 1 is usually appreciably no different than before March 31, but today was actually pretty glorious, so there goes that hook.

May: I guess this is the part where I tableflip and give up forever.

June: I'm doing it; I'm avoiding work I'm being paid for by writing up fic rec posts.

July: The quiet nights of summer are officially over: I heard my first cicadas tonight.

August:
emilygigs' apartment is exactly where I need to be right now.

September: It's totally normal to spend your holiday Monday writing a 3,500-word essay about looking at C-listers up close, right?

October:
e_clare is plying me with books as we sit on her couch and chill.

November: Why am I even living in New York if I can't see Anthony Mackie with a llama in public with my own two eyes?

December: I never get to be here for the early part of the morning.
Very good plans for the rest of the day with very excellent people. This does mean I have a lot of cleaning/box-clearing to do, but shoot, brunch with friends first is totally fun first.
