The Red Hook IKEA is all about the "Brooklyn is 99% docks" part of NYC

"I had a really good time at IKEA with my sister yesterday," said me, actually. It's true! We were there for like... seven hours, in part because holy cats, never have I seen such inefficient line management, but all it all, it was quite fun. I got a couch, which is being delivered in three pieces today; they would have charged $40 a piece to assemble it, so here's hoping it's not that hard.

I have also learned that it's not that easy finding TV stands that display/store DVDs that aren't hugely expensive and really complicated, although I've also learned that if I so desire (and I pony up), I can get one with a fake fireplace inside. (Let's also not forget my intense personal crisis about
tincansally, where I could have amazing/twee light switch plates for $30 a pop. But they're the right size and they're so cool!)

In non-shopping news, there's a quiz that tells you which translation of the Odyssey you should read. (I'm Fitzgerald.) Everything is amazing.

Still trying to figure out routines and things. So far the weeks are super long and the weekends are packed with bustle + lounging. In scoping out my laundry options, I had a 10-minute chat with Larry, whose other half (also an owner) is Tina (Larry and Tina!), who was lovely enough to recognize me on the street last night too. Still need a microwave, but haven't been home enough to need to use one, if that makes sense. Another trip to Target could be a possibility, because it's a nice long walk, for one, but also because there's a Verizon store and I've had it with my phone.

For now, though, I've got to figure out how many DVDs I actually have now, since I pared down so much before I left. More unpacking: always a good thing. Hello!
