Me: I am going to sit in on this doula's class like a goddamn professional! I'm going to observe and take notes and be invisible and write up an awesome goddamn article after!
The Universe: trolololol, how about you slip down an entire flight of steps in front of the whole class?
So that was awesome!
(Actually, I think this doula might actually take the cake for being the coolest motherfucker ever. She was so calm, so knowledgable and so interesting and honest and real, and she ended her 8-hour marathon class by telling the story of the Descent of Inanna, and she had a cat named Whiskey [because he's got a mean kick after], and she just retired from roller derby. COOLEST.)
But no, really, if you ever need a doula in the Chicago area, have I got a lady for you.
