So, ah, I just
reread Cymbeline for pretty much the first time since college. I STILL LOVE IT. It's basically the "Brown Betty" of Shakespeare. Here's me liveblogging bits of the read:
Oh Cloten. How could I forget how ridiculous and wonderful you are? "I'll be revenged: 'His meanest garment!' Well." #cymbeline
"Proof as strong as my grief" -- damn, Billy Shakes. Damn.
"Cloten, whose love-suit hath been to me // As fearful as a siege." #cymbeline #shakespeare
"Thou injurious thief, hear but my name, and tremble." #HELLYEAHCLOTEN #ohsweetie #notsomuch
Doop doop, beheaded the son of the queen! No big. He called me a mountaineer, dad! #omgShakespearewhat
Fear no more the frown o' the great; Thou art past the tyrant's stroke; Care no more to clothe and eat; To thee the reed is as the oak. #wow
OH WHOOPS, WAS CLOTEN WEARING YOUR HUSBAND'S CLOTHING? SORRY ABOUT THAT. WE'LL JUST LEAVE HIM HERE. /o\ #futurekingsofBritain
I love Cymbeline: It's basically Shakespeare writing fic of every play he's done up until then. A bit of this, a bit of that. AMAZING.
...oh sweetie. "Let me make men know / More valour in me than my habits show." #TomHiddleston #Ibetyourockedthis
...In skirmish, IACHIMO and POSTHUMUS LEONATUS he vanquisheth and disarmeth IACHIMO, and then leaves him. (VANQUISHETH AND DISARMETH.)
ANGRY BATTLEFIELD RHYMING. Oh Posthumus, this is not slam poetry night. /o\
...oh yes, the parade of ghosts! #ofcourse #thesethingshappeninprison
WOMEN. Always poisoning each other or some shit. What gives, amirite? #lesscharmingBillyShakes
"Kneel not to me: The power that I have on you is, to spare you; The malice towards you to forgive you: live, and deal with others better."
BAM. #oooooohMisterPosthumus #afanfiction
