Take this, brother. May it serve you well.

For those who may have missed it, due to, well, doing things other than reading LJ/DW over the weekend, I posted a medium-sized linkspam about a number of nifty things on Sunday. I promised a much larger one, and now it is here. Believe it or not, I have still not entirely cleared out my Google Reader.

Down with content. Up with stories. A great article about refusing to devalue artists online.

An old map with a big story.

How Elaine got her groove back. Apparently it didn't take much.

binz and other octopus/squid-interested people, clearly you need to see this.

More UChicago graffiti, this time from winter quarter. Relatedly, this XKCD made me howl.

I don't tend to care much for mid-century modern, but these magnets are too cute to pass by.

Brew up. Perfect for tea lovers the world over. (Coincidentally, happiest of happies,
silveraspen!)

Lapin is at again: el palau de la musica catalana; classic cars in Barcelona.

Casey's stylish relatives -- Someday I have got to find out where we have our trove of old photos. I would kill to see my family in the '20s and thereabouts.

Awesome Parents: Mark; Anonymous; Puri and Manolo; also, Monica

From the ever-great Maybe Next Week: Mercury; Embroidered cover art from Penguin; When lost, remember...

I'm jealous of Jennifer Booher too.

Epic retro loungewear. Of course it's all freaking British.

Niche: A Look at Moleskine’s Marketing

Worn once by mistake.

Celine and Julie go Boating

Shoes. Let's get some shoes.
  • It's true, we don't have enough color in shoes in the U.S.
  • I have no reason to like these, but I do.
  • I see what you did there! How cool is this?
  • Okay, that's just fun.
  • Ooooo. Best use of goth floral motif goes to Alexander McQueen. These look like something out of a story.

Neat new art from Dolan Geiman. Neat art from new-to-me Erica Harris. Some other neat art--
  • Stacey Rozich: This looks like folk art/fairy tale stuff. And not in a sanitized way. More here.
  • Nosy Bear: A making-of short about an animated short with a neat style
  • Sam Bosma does vaguely turn-of-the-century and exhuberant! paintings, and they win! Apparently he's also illustrated some Tolkien, also neat.
  • Star Trek pixel art -- The whole dang cast!
  • Who Framed Roger Rabbit? Art Deco movie poster
  • Shuyu Lu does textile art. Ohmygosh, so cool!
  • Carolyn Sewell makes postcards.
  • There's just something fun about Laura Lea's work.
  • Valeria Rey Soto does COLOR. Ohmyheart! Lush and vivid and entrancing.
  • Frieda Steinmark draws things. Ordinary, everyday things. I'm charmed!

Paul Jessup discusses fairy tale magic, and continues to ruminate on epic fantasy (the last few posts are all in response to one post about Tolkien being anti-war; I like this particular post because it mentions my guy Odysseus).

On being a comics editor at Dark Horse; lots of interesting day-to-day and industry stuff too.

    At ease, paratroopers.
  • Candid shot from "Day of Days"
  • Portrait: Babe Heffron
  • A handy guide (or, well, maybe not, but definitely fannish and kind of amusing)
  • Tom Hanks and his troops -- heh.

I would totally live in this RV. Speaking of trips, this looks fun. Who wants to be copycats with me and run off to the south of France and have vintage shenanigans?

I cannot get this song out of my head.
