For me, and for anyone else having a crummy Monday

Cartooning: Philosophy and Practice by Ivan Brunetti, whose class I was not selected to take in college, seems nonetheless like a neat and engaging resource for anyone who wants to learn.

On that note, How to Make Webcomics -- boom, there you go. For those who really want, like, specific plans and business models, in addition to all the craft stuff, apparently this has all the straight up-and-up.

The Paleyfest 2011 True Blood poster is pretty dang great.

A great one-panel comic from Nickelodeon Magazine, which was apparently a really great venue for indie artists!

United We Stand, Divided We Fall is particularly apropos in light of the anti-union, and particularly anti-teacher, rhetoric we've been enduring lately in the U.S.

The Girl Who Loves to Levitate is a pretty simple conceit, but when you stop thinking about how she does it, the pictures become wondrous.

These, however, are the most wondrous of all: the utterly haunting, to me, "overlay" method of matching up an old photo with the location as it currently stands.

As seen damn near everywhere, but worth it: the Book Surgeon. Wow. That's taking it to the next level.

Also astonishing: I'll draw you if you draw me.

I totally have to find out more about the Prairie Cats.

Reverse graffiti! Now there's an awesome win-win idea.

Guys, you have to watch all of these. On full screen if you can.
  • Art & Copy, [trailer for] a documentary about advertising and creativity and changing the world
  • Blockhead - Trippy, scary, sad, beautiful music video that... almost outdoes Yellow Submarine. Really impressive, but very stimulating, so be aware of that.
  • The Stolen Scream - A nice Israeli boy posts some pictures to Flickr and, without his knowledge, becomes the face of revolution worldwide.
  • The Giants - Really cute and mesmerizing minisodes that... make you kind of hate humanity while they're at it!
  • Orpheus' Pony - Like the post says, totally hypnotic surreal animation; it looks like it's paint on glass. It reminds me of Aethelred Eldridge and The Syncretist.
