Making lists, crossing them off

I am currently experimenting in soups. I've had a hate-hate relationship with my blender since time out of mind, but hey, spring is a time for new beginnings, and none of the restaurants in my neighborhood seem to have a damn bowl of carrot-ginger soup.

I'm feeling pretty good about things. I'm going to answer some comments, do some housework, and get a few other things out of the way. First, though, a short and very exciting linkspam!

Ilona Royce Smithkin, 90 years young, talking about how she dresses and sees the world. Buoyant and optimistic!

Matatoro: A Spanish animated short that's exquisitely surreal and beautiful and strange. And if you'd like something really character-driven, try Drawing Inspiration, which is also pleasantly optimistic.

Hello Stranger, put your loving hand in mine - Free download. Twangy mountain folk, very O Brother, and oddly soothing. By Hazel Dickens & Alice Gerrard.

Upcycled spice cans! These look neat.

In some ways, this is the perfect post for me. I am totally, totally fascinated by household cleaning with super simple items.

Rasputin paper dolls! This might actually convince me to get the Trib delivered.

Kites by Ickle and Lardee of My Milk Toof, so sweet and beautiful and always a joy!

I always like looking at other people's art supplies.

I want colored tights. Ones that won't rip as soon as I look at them either.

Skip this if you don't care about shoes:
  • Bright wraps! So many colors! So much fabric and shine!
  • Statement wedges! Neutrals go BOOM!
  • Ohmygosh what am I looking at! I don't know, but I love it!
  • Fortress of Solitude! That's right, shoes inspired by Superman! \o/

plaça de prim and santa anna - So simple, and yet they really make me miss Spain. I would love to go back and see more. Portugal? South America? All of it, really.

Easy Company reunion, 1947. Oh. ♠

    Twin cartoonist brothers. That's cool.

"Wait, who hit who?" is a neat post from the Clarion Blog about constructing languages in genre fiction. I also need to pick my way through In Darwin's Footsteps at some point, not to mention The Thackery T. Lambshead Pocket Guide itself.

    It's true. Waiting DOES suck.
