So, uh, I put that chair on layaway. I have a month to rent a U-Haul and pick it up. Ohmygosh.

I also fell into the soon-to-be-ex-Borders on Diversey and Clark. I accidentally fell out with many books that I am excited to read. (The Lost Books of the Odyssey! True Grit! The Graveyard Book! The House on Durrow Street! Also, several blank notebooks ( Read more... )

My Borders is soon-to-be-ex too. It's the only bookstore with reading chairs in this city and I shall miss it.

Oof, yeah. My hometown wasn't always that amazing with bookstores, but our library was always great -- it's so essential to make either one habitable for readers.

The little corner bookstore a few blocks away is still going strong. Let's hear it for indies.

Yeah, I'm glad there are some good indies in the neighborhood, but there are going to be a lot more book deserts in this city, particularly in the poorer neighborhoods.
