1960s Louisiana music
This page has some interesting history (and mp3s) about several "garage" rock and r&b bands from 1960s Louisiana.
They're mostly no-hit wonders who must've had very local radio exposure at the time, but it's fun to read about and hear the sounds of groups like the Tyrannies, a 1965 group from Abita Springs, and New Orleans' own Glory Rhodes (1966).
And a few of the mp3s are actually really good, WWOZ-ish material -- particularly Li'l Bob doing "I Got Loaded" and Billy John and the Continentals' cover of "Ooh Poo Pa Doo."
Anyway -- thought this might be of interest to anyone who likes this stuff, or if your parents were around in the mid-1960s, they might know some of it too.
