Dream Foo
Multiple dreams last night.
First one I can remember, I was walking home (from school, I think, even though I don't go to school), and I saw the stargate in the distance. It wasn't a real Stargate, but somehow they were filming here. And I got closer to take a look and I ran into Amanda Tapping. And I said hello. Then later Michael Shanks showed up,a nd I talked to both of them at once. I was actually being a bit more obnoxious than I think I would have been in real life (where I probably would have just said hello, told them I was a fan, and moved on), talking to them about all sorts of things, asking for autographs, etc.
Anyway, next up was a dream where my brother introduced me to a friend of his, and somehow we started arguing about robots replacing or taking over humanity, and we actually had a debate in dream. I was of course pro-robot, and he was against. Interestingly, the debate wasn't one sided, we both came up with decent points (although I remained unconvinced about his side in general).
The only actual point I remember from the debate was the discussion that since AIs have no direct needs beyond power (which is cheap), they won't _have_ to contribute to society in any way to get what they want, which leaves them freer to plot things like the downfall of humanity. I responded that AIs would probably actually be committed among themselves, so in addition to power they'd probably want to get hardware and software upgrades so that they keep up with newer generation AIs and not be obsolete. I think dream-opponent's response to that was that it just proves that they can advance themselves so much faster than we could, which means we'd be the ones who become obsolete. I think I had a response to that (beyond the fact that I didn't see that as a bad thing) but I don't recall what it was.
Anyway, after the debate dream I think I had a minor 'oh my god there's a big test coming in this class and I haven't studied' one, but I can't remember the details.
Then, oddly, I had another dream where I met the cast of Stargates.
This time I can't remember the circumstances, but I met all of them, except oddly Christopher Judge who plays Teal'C. What's a matter, you such a 'big celebrity' you can't appear in my dream? Sheesh. Anyway, this time I behaved myself more, just shaking everyone's hand, telling them it was a pleasure to meet them and that I was a fan, and that was about it.
There were probably a couple intermediate minidreams (I think one involved me going to a doctor for a checkup and him thinking I needed to get glasses). Two lucid ones too. One started in a grocery store supermarket that I _think_ started as semi-sleepy random thoughts rather than a full dream, and then I realized I'd slipped into a dream with my train of thought becoming visual, and seized control. But it didn't last very long, I got outside and that was about it.
Then a little later I had another dream. This time I was in home when it happened, and when I got outside it was night and there was snow everywhere. So I used my dream control powers to first make it daylight (which took a bit of concentration but was okay) and then to warm it up and make it summery. Then, since the streets were deserted and I didn't care for that, I summoned people. I tried a few times to summon specific people, but it didn't work out before I woke up.
That's about it.
