Candice arrives home after a very, very long and ridiculous day, during which she good-naturedly puts up with every flavor of shenanigans from one of her old contacts. The guy is entertaining, truly, and so are his friends, in an old-fashioned way, but that good old boys club is not one to which she belongs and they definitely treat her as The Girl. It gets sort of tiresome after a while, but he's an ex-client and moreover he puts her in touch with all kinds of other people, so she deals with it.

So she's glad to be back. She guesses Martel is in his study, and sets off there, but halfway through her phone rings and she has to fumble with it before setting it to its 'Nexus' function (interdimensional travel is kind of a pain in the ass). When she does get near enough to knock on the door to Martel's study, she's in the midst of a very exasperating conversation, judging by the look on her face and what she's saying.

"I'm really kind of busy right now."

"No, I don't know."

"No, I definitely am busy."

"No, I am not telling you that."

"No, and you haven't become six years old since I left the ranch, I'm fairly certain."
