...I just edited my post thanks to that, you ho. ANYWAY:
Candice does think Martel is interesting, redemption is something that fascinates her; she considers herself on a constant track of just that.
1) I like that Martel is kind of vain, tbh. It's such a Nobleperson thing, and it's stated in canon he is from a wealthy family which then allowed him to be as ambitious as he pleased. 2) Having read his canon now, you've done an A+ job filling in the blanks of his characterization and making him more fully realized than The Villain of The Story.
BUT WHY WHEN HE CAN JUST PUT A CAN IN FRONT OF HIS JUNK?errantknightsJune 5 2008, 06:12:23 UTC
Martel also thinks Martel is interesting. And also Candice. He's having trouble defining what it is he's actually looking for--it is redemption, but you know there are limits to what you can be forgiven for and he's got to a place where a word that implies he can be redeemed seems presumptuous. tl;dr boy has mommy issues.
Ahahaha yes, his ridiculous vanity -- and connected to that attention to detail is fun, he's so fastidious and fussy for someone who has spent his entire life choppin' folks up with a big ol' sword.
I am pleased to hear this! I felt a lot was implied about Martel and very little actually said that wasn't directly necessary. I always mostly try and find logical progression? See: Martel's almost-wife that I made up out of cloth, but have an explanation for why I think there must have been one such woman in his life.
HAHA dude, re: fastidiousness and the knights, that's my favorite part of everything they do. Bevier does it, too! (Shut up I love him, I have to represent my boo. ...my fictional boo. Anyway.) Not with the same things, but with being precise and formal and that love of literature.
YOU CAN'T DISTRA--okay maybe you can. BUT I HAVE AN ARMY OF CATS.
Man. Every time I see Martel, I get the urge to go watch Rose Red. Over. And over. And over. And-- This is completely irrelevant to everything ever except not entirely. Because it leads to the fact that Dane would like to mention that his icon is in response to me wanting to do something that would force him to stare at Martel for hours and has nothing whatsoever to do with Candice.
Dane is an alternate of one of the boys Candice hung out with in high school, so added. Also she thinks it's hilarious that she's seven years older than him now, and in high school she was the baby of the group.
1) I LOVE how much you know about Dane's medical stuff, and how you realistically incorporate that into his personality. You are so well-researched, it rules. 2) Dane is a complex dude and he is never, ever stereotypical. I like the tiny differences between the older versions (the older one is obviously more of a hardass because he's been through way more shit), and also his interaction with Maria and her psychosis is hilarious at all times. MOAR PLS.
Dane's a little ashamed that, as much as he likes Candice, he's not entirely interested in her for herself, knowing that she's known a version of him whose life has been a lot more normal than his.
Sometimes, I feel like I know more about his medical stuff than I'd like to know because some of it gets kind of personal and icky. But we're all coming to know my compulsive organization and data collection.
Aha. It's always so awesome to hear somebody notices and appreciates stuff like that. It makes whatever trouble a character gives you totally worth it. So obviously Dane and Maria need to hang out.
