Throwback Thursday: Glenn Miller

Apr 16, 2009 19:01

Jazz has been the background music of my life, sproating from young childhood, my adolescence and now my early adulthood. I start my week, every Sunday morning with jazz blasting in my speakers, drowning my apartment and it never seems to fail at making me happy.

One artist that seems to go ahead of the class is the comprable, Glenn Miller. I have loved him since I was a little tike, watching my parents sway to him in our living room as a child and thinking that he was the only man alive to make a love song. I might have found other artists who could make great love songs growing up, but none of them seem to make me as nostalgic as him. And my favorite album is Legendary Performer.

At first glance, this album might seem like a greatest hits album, but what you have is a collection of not only his live performances but many of his radio performances. It's a great album full of mood scenes, sounds of the Big Band era and has a wonderful rendition of my favorite song, "In The Mood".

Choice Tracks: In the Mood, Sentimental Me,and Moonlight Cocktail

See you all tomorrow!
