Dashboard Confessional

Hey people!

Just have one review today, hoping to do a bigger one next week on several albums I've been listening to, but this one in particular I needed to talk about, simply because it's such a surprise.

I have always had a quiet love for this band. I don't name drop them every chance I get and I don't dedicate entire evenings to their music, but whenever I need their songs, they always see to hit the spot. Usually, that's when I need a good song to cry to, a song that doesn't make me feel better, but a sense of camaraderie. It's easy for me to bash on them for the consistency of their last few albums, all on the same accord, but unlike their last effort, Alter The Ending has discovered the hope that we've all been searching for the past decade with this band. Despite the emo-centric song titles and the certain chords that pull on your heartstrings, this collection of songs, offered in the classic electric and acoustic, render that label.

The song I found most lovely was Even Now, which highlight Chris Carrabba's vocals, downplayed the percussion and allowed his guitar to take the song to another level. Simple lyrics are one of the strengths of this band, providing something honest that doesn't need to be penetrated or detached. It's always been easy to see into the soul of this man, leaving it open for the taking whenever he sings, only this time, he's not looking for an answer, he already found one.

Choice tracks: Even Now, Blame It On the Changes, Until Morning

Have a great day!
