Hey folks!
As I have recently acquired one of his albums on vinyl, I thought that it would be a great entry for Throwback Thursday. This artist, constantly evolving through the decades, has also managed to hold onto his intergrity, which in this business is a tough feat. Regardless of his phase, he has created his own trends, through the Glam Rock or Folk Rock. He has done it all, and mastered it. His catalogue is long and extensive and I admittingly haven't heard them all, but I know that I can say I would enjoy anything he puts out because he continues to surprise his audience, one track at a time.
From all the albums I've actually heard (count: 12), the one that stands out the most to me is the album I recently bought, Scared Monsters. I always considered the dark horse out of his collection, the last album from his expertimental phase in the 70s, the post-punk movement rapid on its feet and Bowie made the most of it with a cluster of comtemporary hits that are still fresh, nearly thirty years after its initial release.
My favorite song is Ashes to Ashes, but not necessarily for the actual song. The music video was what hooked me in, seeing at it was so weird and warped, even in the mid '00s, it was still avande-garde. I wasn't immediately impressed by Bowie, having listened to him when I was growing up from my mother's eceltic collection of records, chalking it up to just "parents" music, but when I saw this video in my sophomore year of high school, it kinda "clicked". Feeling dreadful, I managed to get a hold of most of his early work and a few from the late 80s and 90s, and a love grew tenfold. I don't really care what people think about him. I adore this guy and he is still on my dream concert list. One day...
