if you're never bored you're not living

I firmly believe that our technology obsessed society robs children of something vitally important - boredom. I remember being excessively and repeated bored so many times during my childhood and adolescence. That boredom helped shape who I am. But these days no one is allowed to be bored (freak out alert: I just used the phrase “these days” - I am ( Read more... )

Okay 2 of em cause I'm 'Bi' as in 'Bi Country' so one for here and my US of Eh phone.

My friends and family are aghast when I show up to an event and don't have it with me an ask if I'm okay being the only one in the crowd / world that doesn't have a phone in my hand..

"YES I'm okay thankyouverymuch' I reply with a menacing glare or condescending eye roll

Dag nabbit.. I'm fine and then it starts.. all the reasons they MUST have their phones on / in hand 24/7.. I kinda think it's glued there with that new medical glue Docs use so as to not have to stitch you up after they cut you open.

My reply to them "Oh dear how in ever did you folks grow up without a phone in your face 24/7" Most of them are my age give er take and they do daydream a bit of life back in the 90's and before but trust me Jen those are the bygone bad ole dayz. Even my daughter has a modicum of sanity by leaving her phone in her purse or God febid all the way out on the street in her car where she can't hear those insistent pings that have taken over so many lives these dayz. So good on her eh.

Geez Babe I recall you lost or broke yer ole phone and went for a looooooooooooooooong time span replacing it.. Time to daydream eh.. I agree with you on this one Jen imagination is a precious beauty being devoured by one cell phone etc. at a time.

The menacing glare probably makes them think you are not okay though and miss your phones.

Hey I remember the 90s very well and they weren't that bad! Sure, the music was a bit depressing but it wasn't a terrible time! And yeah, I actually found it quite freeing and relaxing being phoneless for a few months. Of course, the downside is I worried quite a few people who thought I'd been abducted or killed.. so while my stress levels decreased theirs increased haha :)

As for the video, I'm not that limber, rarely wear a leather jacket, and have never made a selfie video of myself in the loos like a total narcissist. Also, my hair is a lot shorter than that at the moment, but otherwise it's uncannily like me :P
