And while I don't have news as good as yours, I can tell you that on Father's Day, I dod order a 27" Retina 5K iMac with 32GB of RAM, a 512GB SSD, a 4GB video card and a 4.0Ghz i7 that Turboboosts to 4.4Ghz. It should be here sometime next week, just in time for Independence Day.

I plan to stay home the day it is delivered working from home. If anyone asks why, I will tell them that I have ordered a mail order bride and have to sign for her when she arrives.

That won't be far from the truth.

So did you get your Retina thingo? It sounds uber high tech (although I'm obviously worried about your suggestion that is a mail order bride equivalent - ewww!! I'm worried about what you intend to do with it!!!)

I did get my 5K Retina iMac. It is quite uber high tech.

The reasons I compared it to a mail order bride is that I placed an order and paid a lot of money to have it shipped to me. I don't make the same kind of sweet love that I could make with a real mail order bride, but I do see and use it every day spending many hours in front of it, though that time hasn't really put the machine through its paces.

I bought pixie (that's what I call her) to replace my old, ailing, non-retina iMac. The load times are better because pixie doesn't have spinning platters. One of my informal, un-scientific tests showed pixie to be slower than previous machines, though I may have an explanation for it and need to run the test again after checking some parameters.

You have allayed my mail order bride analogy concerns and I am very grateful. I'm sorry your pixie is a little slow but if there is a good reason I'm sure that's okay then :)

I don't have holidays until Sept - staggering to the end of each month at the moment. September is a shimmering light off in the distance that I keep looking at and thinking "keep going, keep going....". Off to KL - jump on a flight and come and hang out with me for a while - I'm planning on exploring, spa-ing, cooking, and possibly the odd G&T too!

The odd G&T is very very tempting!! I might surprise you with a visit soon after my American trip if you keep up talk like that!!
