This is the third book in Charlaine Harris' Sookie Stackhouse series. No, I haven't seen the show based on the novels, but it comes out on DVD next week, and you better believe I'm going to pick it up. These novels kick ass, and Club Dead is no exception.
One thing I found interesting about this book is that Sookie largely flies solo throughout it, without the company of her vampire boyfriend Bill. When he's called away on a top secret mission, Sookie must find out what happened to him, and discovers that he has been unfaithful to her. Angered, she rescinds her invitation to him, pretty much breaking them up.
I have to admit: Bill is not one of my favorite characters. It's not because he's a bad guy or anything--on the contrary, he's one of the good guys, but Harris does not do a good job in my opinion of making him a likeable character. I'm not sure if this is her intent or not, but he really does nothing for me. Sookie, on the other hand, is a great character and I find myself sympathizing with her a great deal.
This maybe the best book of the series so far. They keep getting better, so I have high hopes for the fourth volume.
