It only takes Steve a day to find a new hut, close to the beach and big enough for his liking.
It takes a little longer than that to find supplies to improve it a little, but the island is full of natural resources provided that one knows how to look for them. The landscape is eerily similar to Hawaii, though Steve's already been warned (multiple times, and all of them by Danny) not to go anywhere near where the dinosaurs are guaranteed to be. Barring that, he doesn't mind exploring for the necessary items he can mold into something that will work. The tools he borrows from the Compound basement
The roof of the hut has a few patches that need fixing, so after weaving together some of the sturdier leaves into waterproof seals, he's up there in the early morning hours to secure them down, whistling with slightly pursed lips while he wields a hammer and a couple nails.
