WIP Amnesty / SGA vids.
I need space on my external hard drive and those two projects, in addition to taking up a lot of that precious space, have been doing nothing but gathering dust for the past two years; it was time we parted.
Wip #1: Miles: 2161.6
Fandom: Stargate: Atlantis
Pairing: John/Rodney
Rating: PG
Plot/concept: The story of John and Rodney (and their big gay love) from their births to today, told with a documentary feel.
Notes: The first half of this video was first vidded in early 2006 (so during the airing of season 2) and sent for beta to meivocis and le_mot_mo. For various reasons, I put the project aside and only reopened it about a year later, in January 2007. By then, my vidding skills had improved a great deal, so I entirely re-vidded the first part and sent it again for beta to meivocis and niannah. The second part of the vid was vaguely story-boarded but never vidded. Even incomplete, the vid is about 6 minutes long. Completed, this video would have been about 11:12 minutes long.
Important!: Because this was vidded in early 2006, there are now a few inaccuracies which appeared as canon developed: I had imagined Jeannie to be older than Rodney and not younger, and Rodney having 3 PhD's instead of 2. I did not correct those details.

For the curious: Julie is Claire Danes as Angela from "My So-Called Life". Danny is Enrique Murciano as Tony, guest-starring in an episode of "The Pretender"; you may recognize him from "Without A Trace" where he plays Danny Taylor. (This is one big fandom collision.)

Fandom: Stargate: Atlantis

Plot: Study of John's fucked-up self, and his big gay love for Rodney.
Notes: This did not even make it to the vidding stage, not really -- I did vid a 10 second sample, but that's it. So this is not the vid I'm sharing with you but the audio of the vid -- and not even the complete audio track because it is unfinished too -- which I made from bits of audio from Sg: A and a couple of other sources.
The concept was as follows: show clips and sound bites of key events of John's life since he joined the stargate program -- the story is told from his POV. Follow canon chronologically, but introduce from time to time flashbacks and/or flashforwards connecting events in such a way that it brings new meaning; try to establish a logic behind John's actions and decisions as a leader and a friend, more specifically towards Rodney. The audio track would be entirely made of SGA sound bites and a few sound effects. Visually, the vid would be made of flashes and blurs of the scenes, showing just enough for them to be recognizable without ever being completely sharp, and in contrast, some flashes would be clear and vivid; in other words, a jumble of memories and feelings all blurring together, intercepted by clear moments. There would be also quieter moments entirely focused on John, an introspection of sort (03:33 to 03:48 for example). Each click that you can hear in the audio corresponds to a scene change -- visualize a view-master if that helps. :)
Had it been fully completed, this vid would have been about 15 minutes long. I am that crazy.
