Edge of Darkness

Flicking through the weekend paper magazine supplement I came across an article about old English TV series being remade as movies: State of Play, The Singing Detective, Traffik, THE EDGE OF DARKNESS!!!!
Please if you haven't seen the original TV mini-series...BBC circa 1985....find it somewhere, put away several hours and watch it. They are surely going to stuff it up when they make a movie and I would hate for all of you to remember the movie only.
It is scary, moody, dark, clever, sinister and just plain excellent. It came in at number 2 on a list of the greatest British TV shows that the British Film Institute made in 2000. (Brideshead Revisited was 1).
The basic story is of a Yorkshire detective investigating the death of his daughter who he finds has been caught up in a deep dark plot involving nuclear waste and government cover ups.
How can it translate from Yorkshire and London to Boston? They cannot possibly re-do the lovely pun that I remember 25 years later about Mr Jedburgh (pronounced JedBerg) becoming Mr JedBURRA when he goes to Edinburgh.
Will the Joe Dan Baker character wave around plutonium and say "get it while it's hot" when he crashes a nuclear waste conference?

Film being released on Feb 4 in Australia. I will be there with my ears back. But as said I fear it will be stuffed up.
