Hattie: why do things have to change?
Lindsey: because we're growing up
Hattie: why do we have to grow up?
Lindsey: because life sucks
Hattie: well i couldnt have grown up w/o u

These kinds of conversations are becoming more and more common... I guess the truth really is setting in. For the first time, I'm actually realizing that life without most of my friends close by is arriving soon. How will I do it? I mean, I've known Hattie since the beginning of time! We've told secrets to each other, laughed until we cried together, cried until we laughed together, stayed up late together, played in the rain together, asked questions together, explored the world together, searched for answers together... but for the first time I'm going to have to do things on my own or with new friends (and we all know they aren't as wonderful as the originals). Weird.

So yea, 2006. You probably know everything I think of when I put those four unimportant numbers together, which, in the right order,  form one of the biggest years of our lives. It's the end of one chapter and the beginning of the next, the biggest transition I've experienced yet. Am I ready for that?

My resolution:
This year, I will make the most of ends and beginnings. I will savor the moments I'm given. I will etch incredible memories into my mind. I will keep in touch. I will recognize the value of the people who surround me, and I'll make sure they know it. There's more... but you get the idea.

Side note: The BG Daily News printed an article on the front page of the sports section which was headlined "Tragedies, near misses". It outlined the top 10 sports stories of 2005, and yea, "BGHS advances to 3A football title game", along with a sad picture of the seniors crying, made spot number 3. Please go read it at http://bgdailynews.com/articles/2006/01/01/sports/1sportsa.txt

2005 to 2006... brace yourself.
"Because in a sense, it's the coming back, the return which gives meaning to the going forth. We really don't know where we've been until we've come back to where we were. Only, where we were may not be as it was because of who we've become. Which is, after all, why we left." - Unknown
