I think the main problem with that, though, is that sometimes when you are plodding along a certain path it's because it's just not. feasible. at. all. to shake it up. I still think that should be a cue to try to make even a little change so you can appreciate what you have and where you are. It could also be because you are anticipating being somewhere better soon and to do that you have to plow through where you are.

I do think life is for living and you only get one shot, but between the husband, the kid, the local job market, and the student loans, I have had to make some compromises I'm not altogether crazy about. The thing was, weighing all of the different options convinced me that the compromises I was making were probably best based on our needs and priorities. So when I get grumpy about things I'd like to be different, I have to follow the thread to see how I got here, and then look forward and see what my plan is to make improvements. (said plan, currently, being to live cheaply and try to pay off all this frickin' debt! I hate debt.)

idk if that had much to do with what you're talking about.

short version, not everybody can just pack up and do whatever they want whenever. But most people can afford to spice up their life a little from where they are, even if it's just "hey, let's go randomly go to a restaurant".
