things that never cease to make me sad when i'm browsing myspace:

1. when people from my class look so vastly different from high school (or college) that you'd swear way more than 9 (or 5) years had passed. how do people get that old-looking so quickly? wrinkles and eye-bags and bad haircuts and frumpy clothes...you're only 27, people! are your lives that hectic that you can't take a decent picture? or do you just LOOK like that all the time?

2. when people look THE SAME as they did in school. I don't mean in the face or body - those are two places where youth is always welcome - and I don't mean someone who cleared up their acne or lost 50 lbs. i mean people who wear the same clothing style and the same haircut and color and do the same hobbies and make the same expressions in all their pictures. clothing style especially. I guess I just feel sorry for people who can't evolve and grow out of teenage habits.

3. when people post bulletins just because they uploaded a handful new pics. this is a blatant and obvious plea for comments on said pictures, or at the very least, attention. if your life is so empty you NEED myspace comments on your pics, then hence my sadness for you.

4. when people change their display name to "Mrs. So-and-so!" after their wedding, or "So-and-so's future wife!" or "Future Mrs. So-and-so!!" after they get engaged. i think this makes me sad for 3 reasons: (1) you are still "YOUR NAME." your myspace is still supposed to be YOUR page. your first name has not changed, why change your display name just b/c your last is going to/just has? (2) I always pity people who define themselves by their relationship. how sad! (3) guys just don't seem to do this with their myspaces, ever. i know they don't change their last names typically, but they don't write "So-and-so's future husband!!!" either. i sound like a feminist but i dont care.

5. when people are STILL FRIENDS with the SAME PEOPLE they were friends with IN HIGH SCHOOL. i think it's awesome when you can keep friends, and im sure everyone has at least one, maybe a small group, but i mean the people who take photos with the same crew they went to prom with, and who dont really have other new friends, and who go clubbing with these people and their friends (also from HS). i know some of these people might not have gone to college, and i get that - but im talking about the ones who DID, and who still hang out at the bar in the center every Friday with ten of their best buddies from the football team/yearbook/math class. i know what a loser i look like for dating someone from high school, but i didnt start dating him til college, and i think i have sufficiently shown i can make friends in many other venues. I am such a different person from when I was 17, and i think my friends should reflect that! (and my appearance, for that matter - see #2)

lol myspace, rants
