NYAF 2007
Gi, myself, and Gi's cousin Jason went to the New York Anime Festival on Saturday. It was the first year of this con, but it's run by the people who do NY Comic-Con, so I had high hopes. As a convention, I guess it was OKAY, but the day was definitely a good time hanging out with psychelock & hatefulsarang and other friends, so who cares. My voice is pretty much gone right now from talking and laughing so much.
I had never been to the Jacob Javits Center before. from the outside it looks like your run-of-the-mill convention center, but HOLY SHIIIIIT IT IS HUUUUGE INSIDE. We registered, drank some really expensive lemonade and ate some really expensive sandwiches, and then we assaulted the main area (which was pretty much just the dealer's room). Gi's costume, as usual, was mad popular and we could barely walk anywhere. She got interviewed by FOX 5 NEWS LOL.
I didn't buy anything save for THE MOST AWESOME BANNER EVER. Prisc and Madi saw it and told me about it, it was a one-of-a-kind Record of Lodoss War canvas banner. it has Parn and Deedo on it, it's the cover of the OVA box set, and eeeeeeeeeee i nearly died when I saw it. It was ONE HUNDRED DOLLARS, but the guy said he would negotiate. i HATE haggling. i dont know how to do it. but then he said he'd give it to me for $50, and it was SOLD. maybe he could tell i was that excited, idk. but i'm seriously so grateful that he chopped the price in half. he said something about it being worth it if it's going to a real fan, and oh man, i am so real i am obsessive, so if he is wondering if it has a good home, i can assure him that it DOES.
i didnt measure it properly, but i'm about 5'3", and if i lay down on top of it and line my feet up with the very bottom, my head reaches up to the bottom ridge of Parn's sword guard, and his fist is like near my face.
here's my cat Patches sitting on it, which helps to show scale a little better. Patches is a pretty big cat, she weighs like 12 lbs.
oh and we also took 804939202 pics, as usual. we pretty much pay for badges so we can hang out and take pictures of stuff.

Melissa and me!!! I went to college with Melissa, and i havent seen her since 2003! I was way too excited to see her again, she is SO AWESOME. Gi, I wish the dealer's room was not a huge maze of chaos so you could have met her, too.
see, i'm standing in front of where Orihime is on the sign! i guess i'm the wrong version of her, but oh well. Chad, Ichigo, and Ishida are just jealous that they dont have nifty arrancar threads themselves. you can kind of see her head behind mine a little - look, we're the same height!

the one thing i'm a little upset about is that i TOTALLY forgot to wear my stupid black sash that goes around Orihime's waist. I swear, i did make one! A year in the making, and I mess the costume up the first time I wear it, lol. I'm actually not as upset as I normally would be, I suppose. I think it's partially cause i didnt notice WHILE i was there, i noticed it today looking at pics of me and another Orihime. If I had noticed it yesterday, I would have been uneasy all day; I'm SO glad I wasnt paying attn. Usually i'm like REGRETREGRETREGRET til my stomach hurts, for like a week, over little things like this. THANK YOU btw to anyone who noticed and didnt say anything (and plz dont comment saying you did notice but i looked great anyway, b/c it will do the opposite of your good-intentioned encouragement and i'll start the REGRET REGRET REGRET stomach thing if i KNOW a ton of ppl noticed. hahaha im ACTION-PACKED with issues, sorry.) but maybe b/c it wasn't that amazing of a con, maybe b/c i had fun anyway, idk. normally i LIKE cons where i can wake up and leave my house THAT DAY, but this shows the one major drawback. at far-away cons i pack all my costumes together in bags, and i make sure i have everything before i leave, so AT the con it is next to impossible for me to forget to wear a part of it since all the pieces fall out of the bag together. but the dress was hanging up in my basement, and the hakama were on my table drying from the Oxy Clean, and the sash was neatly folded 5 feet away on a chair, and in my frenzy of "what time does the train leave?" etc, i forgot it. im pissed b/c i should have glanced at a ref image before i left, but to be honest, there is no guarantee i would have noticed it then, either. i made the sash so long ago that im surprised i could even find it.
im just upset b/c i got some pics with a really good Aizen & Szayel, and some funny pics with another Orihime, and funny pics with Gi of course, and i LOVE this one of me in front of the Bleach sign, and I'm going to forever look at them and see NO SASH and think of what a noob I was that day. i suppose i could photoshop it into my favorite pics, and i might, it would be pretty easy, but idk if i care enough. also anyone else who took my pic will expose my noobery anyway.
