Attempting to write Newman/Redford fanfic

I am attempting to write my own slash fanfic on The Sting. I love this pairing and would like to write a story about it.
i haven't done a piece of fiction before, but I would love to know what you guys think about in regards to a Newman/Redford slash pairing. What kinds of things would you like included in a story about their relationship? Should it be subtle, sex or romance.
