Hello peeps.  Didn’t I warn you all that these entries were going to be few and far between?  Well thank the gods; I’ve decided it’s time to do another.

I’ve been up to various things since my last entry so don’t except a chronologically accurate list.  Well I went for the audition/jam and unsurprisingly I got it. I now a bassist in a band. Things started to move reasonable quickly after that to the extent that I actually spent some money on a new Bass amp.  Now as

markachu and the other members of Gates of Attrition may remember, I did have a reasonably crappy BC Rich Bass Bitch amp of undetermined aged.  Well I am now the proud owner of a Ashdown EB-15 amp.  This baby’s a little more suited to gigging as its 180w and filled with nice little toys.  Unfortunately it’s already had to go back to the manufacture to have the speaker replaced after it blew during a practice.  To be brutally honest I was some what fucking relieved as I thought the pre-amp had blown as there was a weird electrical type smell afterwards.

Thankfully the amp is now back and working.  This is pretty important as I’ve got my first ever live gig tomorrow night (Sat).  Now this is a charity gig at the local farmers club which means that unfortunately we wont get paid, but who cares about that. There are two groups playing: us and a covers band who are the main act.  It’s the first gig for both groups but we have the slight advantage as we’re playing our own material.  Also the average age of the other group is 40 and they believe that having expensive kit is the most important thing.  I am starting to feel slightly nervous however, especially as im going to be watch by markachu, littlelinda667, my old man, close friends, some work colleagues and another 70 odd strangers.

Half way through May, I and a group of friends decided to go for a drive up to Hay Bluff which is just on the outskirts of Hay-On-Wye.  Now it was a little chilly up there so we decide, spur of the moment style, to take a road trip up to the Ryder dams.  We trundle our way back down to Hay and then off went to Rayder.  Now as we were driving there in two cars (my Cavalier and my mates Boxter Sport,) it’s imperative to have some sort of communication between the two vehicles.  This is where two way radios come into there own. Not only do they allow you to communicate while marshalling an Airsoft game, it also means that the lead vehicle (the Boxter) can tell the trailing vehicle (the Cavalier) when it’s safe to overtake.  Now the road to Ryder is brilliant if you want a spirited drive and I highly recommend it to any petrol head.  We’re planning to make a return trip in a while but this time in a Subaru Imprezza and a Hyundai Accent.  Now anyone who’s ever been in an Accent will know that they handle like a boat in a storm so guess which car I’ll be the passenger in?  That’s right; I’ll be in the Accent.  Can’t wait as that’s going to be a laugh.

shallowthing will be interested in this one.  About six weeks ago a group of us took a drive up to Talgarth to have a mooch around the old Asluym Hospital up there.  Strange little fact… I never realized that my cousin used to work there before it closed down.  Anyway I digress.  Now this place has been well featured on the 28DaysLater site.  The reason why we decided to go and look around the place was to see if it might be useable as an Airsoft Site.  The good news is that’s fucking perfect for it.  The bad news is that we’re still trying to get hold of the current owner of the site who appears to be permanently on holiday to talk about it.

I’ve also been for a quite walk around an old munitions site based on the outskirts of Hereford.  I don’t want to say actually where it is as its still MOD property, but locals will know the place I’m talking about.  The highlight of the exploration, other than bumping into two locals who were using some old munitions stores for illegal rifle shooting, was coming across one of the remaining manufacturing buildings. Now this place was huge.  The floor space was easily larger than that of a football pitch, and unsurprisingly local kids had found there way into it for tagging and other nefarious purposes.  There were a couple of hairy moments where we had to seek refuge in a bush, or bomb shelter doorway, to avoid been spotting by the handful of people who actually had permission to be on the site.  To be honest that’s part of the frill of doing things like this.

Well can’t think of much else of interest that I’ve been up to, other than my indecent dancing episode with a work colleague, but I might leave that for another entry.
