Flight 2-3, and food

Mar 15, 2011 17:51

My brilliant plan of sleeping the full 8 hours of transatlantic flight were dashed soundly by Tom- airline pilot, grandfather, and my seat-buddy. I may have gotten a total of one hour of sleep spread over three catnaps because we were just chatting away the entire flight. Yeah, I got the emailz. =)

I was very amused that breakfast on the American leg was an egg (mc)muffin, while the French leg was a cheese sandwich with a chocolatey croissant and creme fraiche. And I do mean the French leg. I felt very uncouth trying to be understood in English. Worse, at the hotel they even speak Spanish and I didn't get on any better.

In fact, my first semi-intelligible request (which I still said wrong) was: "What is this; how do I eat it?" I actually managed to say "Que est ce se? Comment manger?" which is more like "That is what is? How to eat?" but she understood me.

So, I went overboard on my first meal outside of the US. I had a french pastille and moroccan chicken. They tried to show me the dessert menu and I panicked with "How do you say Je ne faim pas?!" (I think that means "I am not hungry") Yes, I will try the creme broule next time, for all my Danish homies out there.

Oh, and I forgot rule#1 and had tea the instant I was unsupervised... essentially drinking the water on day 1. *sigh* Keep my gastronomy in your prayers peeps. Photos and more adventures to come!

Oh yes, I checked some email, but tomorrow I will actually be in the office... in Casablanca. Dude.

Now with Photos:
