It is worse than watching the grass grow because there is no randomly passing bugs to entertain you. Sort of. But I killed all the bugs already.
I don't think it could be the query. It only joins 6 tables, is basically a count of each record with a case statement in the select (and therefore in the group by). Oh sure there are jillions of records, but this bad boy has been running for 70 minutes. I think the data is truncated for replication every hour...
So, on the subject of passions... I think the DB programmer could be it. I have always enjoyed little queries like this. But the DB admin work is less appealing. This is what kept me at work for 10 hours yesterday without lunch or even noticing. No, I mean this one query. Just run for Pete's sake!
Registration for classes is next Monday. I will not be doing the mid east dance. We are out of district and for that price I can go to a dance studio and not get graded. The Basic Illustration class is 4 hours... $$$$. And, how do I know I will like it? But there happens to be an Oracle Programming class (3 hours... $$$) also. I would have to get the prof's approval since I don't have the pre-req, but it should be easy since I got the PL/SQL cert long ago.
I don't know. Supposedly my interests wax and wane too often to know what to do, or at least, to know what to spend more than $30 on.
